Originally performing as Three Island StoryTellers, ‘Tis Tales is a performance storytelling group (Holly Medland, Tony “Monty” Hirst, Sue Bailey) from the Isle of Wight.

With a wide ranging repertoire of traditional folk tales, fairy tales, legend and myths taken from a wide range of traditions, ‘Tis Tales can provide a story for any occasion.

Sue Bailey is founder of the Island Storytellers storytelling club and active Island-based storytellers, regularly telling tales in schools and home education settings, and helping organise many of the story related events on the Island.

A performer with Monty + The AnyWhens, ‘Tis Tales and (formerly) Stories’n’Harp, as well as solo shows. A regular storyteller at Isle of Wight folk clubs and open mic nights, Tony “Monty” Hirst enjoys trawling through old story collections in search of lost tales, as well as rediscovering and retelling stories from a variety of traditions heard at story festivals over the last twenty five years.

An island based storyteller with a keen interest in darker Icelandic, Scandinavian and Eastern European tales, Holly delivers a wide range of fun and interactive activities for children focusing on heritage via Unravelled Learning.

Holly also produces the History and Folklore Podcast ( @historyfolklore) which takes a look at folklore, through the lens of history, to help us understand people’s perceptions of nature through time.
